Support

Questions, bug reports, and feature requests all go to the same place: [email protected]. Locus is made by one person, and every message is read and answered — usually within two business days. Last updated July 25, 2026.

Contact

Email [email protected] with anything at all. If you are reporting a problem, it helps to include your macOS version, the Locus version from Locus ▸ About Locus, and what you did just before it happened. Screenshots are welcome. Please do not send your notes — they are yours, and they are almost never needed to diagnose a problem.

Where your notes are stored

Locus keeps everything on your Mac, in your user Application Support folder, as human-readable files — alongside any images you have added, automatic backups, and per-page version history. To open that folder, choose Go ▸ Go to Folder in Finder and enter ~/Library/Application Support/Locus.

Because your notes are ordinary files in your own account, they are covered by Time Machine and any other backup you already run, and you can copy the folder yourself at any time.

Common questions

I closed the main window — how do I get it back? Choose File ▸ New Window, or click the Locus icon in the Dock. Locus keeps running in the menu bar so Quick Capture stays available, so closing the window does not quit the app. To quit, use Locus ▸ Quit Locus.

How do I get my notes out? Use File ▸ Export to write a single page out as Markdown, HTML, or PDF, or to export the entire workspace at once. There is no lock-in: the stored files are readable without Locus.

I lost changes to a page. Locus keeps version history per page. Open the page and use the version history view to see earlier snapshots and restore one.

I forgot my App Lock authentication.App Lock uses macOS itself — Touch ID, Apple Watch, or your Mac login password — through Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. Locus never sees or stores your biometrics or password, so if macOS cannot authenticate you, use your Mac login password at the prompt.

How do I update? The Mac App Store version updates through the App Store. The version downloaded from this website checks for signed updates automatically and can be updated from Locus ▸ Check for Updates.

Reporting a bug or requesting a feature

Send it to [email protected]. Reproduction steps are the single most useful thing you can include — even a rough “it happens when I paste into a toggle” is enough to start from. Feature requests are genuinely wanted; a good deal of Locus exists because someone asked.
